March 3, 2015 – I was contacted by
Maita de Jesus, Managing Editor of Good Housekeeping (GH) for a possible
feature in their magazine on how I started living a healthy lifestyle.
So fast forward to the day when I
was scheduled for my photoshoot and interview. I was advised to bring running
apparel when I visit the Summit Media Office in Pioneer, for my interview, and
hair and make-up. When I arrived their
office, I was led to their boardroom.
First person I met was Elaine
Ganuelas, the hair and make-up artist.
It was fun chatting with her, asking her stuff about how to put on basic
make-up and just chit-chatting.

A few
minutes after, my interviewer, Trisha C. Bautista (Editorial Assistant,
Cosmopolitan Philippines) arrived. She introduced herself and then started
interviewing me. It was very natural, it’s
as though I was just sharing stories with Trisha while Elaine was busily
putting make-up. After that, Tish
Alvarez, GH’s Editor-in-Chief, entered the boardroom and joined us. She briefed me on what to expect during the
shoot, and then introduced me to GH’s Assistant Art Director, Theo Cruz. She explained that Theo wanted a shot of me
while running, showing my abs, and asked if I was okay with it. I told her,
it was no problem at all since I was wearing a sports bra (but in my head, I
thought, “Woah, I didn’t expect this, I
should’ve done more core strengthening exercises to enhance my abs!” Hahaha, just kidding).
As we left the GH office, we
headed to Valle Verde 5 (shoot location). While we were
inside the car, Theo explained to Dairy Darilag, the photographer, his ideas on
how to go about the shoot. Dairy then briefed me on what I should do when we
get to the shoot location. It was such an enjoyable
experience. Though we were stuck in
traffic for quite a while, it was fun chatting with the GH team who was with
me.
Now, three months after, the Good
Housekeeping June 2015 issue is out.

We
got our copies of the magazine June 2nd.
I was so overwhelmed when I read the
story. It made me recall Day 1, back when I started, the very first day I ran around
the basketball court and almost passed out. I’m just so glad I decided to take
that first baby step.
Thank you to the whole Good
Housekeeping Team for giving me the chance to share my story.
I hope you can grab a copy of Good
Housekeeping’s June 2015 issue.
It’s
worth it! :)
Catch you later!

DeleteThis is truly inspiring. I do jogging and I had an opportunity to run a 2k marathon last February. It was my first time and I'll definitely join next time whenever there is a chance.
ReplyDeleteHoping to read more updates here. I'm a new follower. :)

DeleteI wish I will have that courage for consistency so I could help myself loose weight. You look great!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Katherine. It's really hard to start and even harder to be consistent. :) Start with baby steps, before you know it, you have exceeded our personal goal :)
